What the 2016 listing showed
Porthmadog’s summer programme in the archived calendar centred on its narrow-gauge railways. The details below are a historical snapshot; schedules change each year and should be confirmed with the operators.
A Summer of Fun
From late July to the end of August the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways ran extra activities for families every day. They included rides on the footplate, entertainers, trains with food on board and other attractions.
Jazz train
In late July a special jazz train ran on the Ffestiniog line.
Evening of steam, jazz and barbecue
A weekly summer evening at Tan y Bwlch combined live jazz by a regular band with a barbecue. The archive noted that it was partly outdoors and suggested dressing for the weather, and even a dance in the moonlight.
