Plas Heli, Pwllheli: Boat Shows, Food and Ultra Running

The venue

Plas Heli, at Pwllheli on the Llyn Peninsula in Gwynedd, is the Welsh National Sailing Academy and Events Centre. The archive described it as a new facility, and its programme in 2016 mixed water-based and land-based occasions.

Events listed for 2016

Llyn Land and Seafood Festival. Held over a weekend at the end of May, it celebrated produce from the farms and waters of the peninsula.

All Wales Boat Show. In mid-June the show took place at the venue for the second time, in its fifth year overall. It was described as a celebration of all water-based activities.

Round Pen Llyn Ultra Marathon. In early August the peninsula hosted its first ultra marathon: 75 miles against the clock with a 24-hour limit, much of it along the coastal path.

Why it matters

Events like these show that the Snowdonia region is not only about hills. The Llyn Peninsula’s coastline supports sailing, running and festivals throughout the summer.
